Blogaversary Give Away "Winners"

Hello Everyone, Today I had a bit of trouble uploading photos to bloggers, hence my late posting for the winners of my " 3rd Blogaversary. The very first thing I would like to say is a Huge Thank You to "Everyone" who was kind enough to visit my blog and leave their lovely messages for me to read. They "ALL" were greatly appreciated, and I wish I had a gift to give to everyone.

Today My Sweetie pulled out of the hat the following names. The first winner is "Miss 376" and Jane lives in the UK. The second winner is "RagoJo" and Rags lives in Iceland. Congratulations Rags, you have won Miss Sunshine. I hope you will enjoy looking at her and know she will have a good home with you. My email address is cjquilter00@verizon.net

Above is another photo of one of my 8 Sedums. They are so beautiful to look at in the late summer months with their glorious colors.

You know it is getting close to Autumn when you find "Turkeys" wondering about in your back yard gardens. I am sure you can guess what they were wanting to nipple on, yup, my lovely blooms. My Sweetie took their photos and told all 12 of them that I did not appreciate them in my gardens. They understood and they wondered off. LOL

I have spent most of my summer working in my gardens this year and I am truly looking forward to Autumn and the slower pace of life. I have missed so much my stitching. I have taken a couple of classes this summer and I will share with you all what I have created soon.

Please remember their is "Always, Always, Always Something To Be Grateful For"! And one of the many things I am "Truly Grateful for are all my "Blogging Friends.
Hugs,

Turkeys in the garden? Now that's a problem we don't face in the Pacific NW. I know what you mean about not getting enough time to stitch.
Congrats to the winners, they are truly lucky to have won such beautiful items.

Congratulations to the lucky winners.

How amazing that you have wild turkeys wandering into your garden.

Having been asked on more than one occasion to paint turkeys, I would find great inspiration there!

Congratulations to all the winners.... lucky girls! Wow, those turkeys certainly look very big! Your sedums are glorious. Summers are so short, that we all need to take time for ourselves and not worry about our "techy time" - life is too short to spend it all days in doors - we can do plenty of that in the winter! Hugs.

Judy, thank you so much for your thoughtful give away. I will have fun making this into something. I haven't worked with clay faces before so it will be exciting to try :)

In response to your questions about my blackberry dyed wool, here goes... hope it helps x

I found this website that gives loads of pointers for using natural dyes.

http://www.pioneerthinking.com/naturaldyes.html

It was ambiguous about timings so for the fixative, I simmered the wool in salt solution for around 15 mins before draining. But for muslins I have a feeling that just squeezing the blackberry solution through the muslin would be enough to colour it.

For the dye, I used as little water as possible, then when the dye had been prepared I squeezed the berries as hard as I could through muslin to get all the juice out then simmered the wool in the dye juice until there was virtually no liquid left.

I'm just learning to felt right now so everything I try is a bit of an experiment. I've just received some felting needles so this piece was needle felted as a sheet of felt. I needle felted some hearts. when I pulled the needled felted sheet off the sponge, the reverse side came out very hairy, where the needle had driven the fibres into the sponge. It looked and felt lovely so I decided to attach the hearts to that side. Originally I had expected that the hearts would be raised above the surface of the felt sheet, but because the hairs were so long they are actually sunk in. I liked the outcome and will try this again.

Hope this makes sense?
