Excellent Japanese Crazy Quilt

I discovered this Excellent Japanese CQ in Quilt Japan March 2005 Issue. I have been looking at Quilt Japan and Patchwork Quilt Tsushin magazine for many years. This one was recommended to me by a friend Hideko. I absolutely LOVE these magazines. The minute I saw this CQ I fell in love with it and I knew I had to try and make one similar to it. Unfortunately, I have never made a CQ soooo I reckon it will be a huge challenge but this does not damper my enthusiam to try. I hope to received advise from Veteran Crazy Quilting Friends and I will probably make a smaller verison of it. Hideko told me it was made from cottons, silks, and polysters fabrics. I wonder if there is a Crazy Quilt Pattern out there similar to this design. If anyone has any advise on construction or suggested patterns, I would greatly appreciate knowing about them. The Rose is the theme in this quilt and "The Rose" is my very favorite flower.. I have been collecting all different kinds of hand dyed threads, laces, ribbons, beads, buttons, for many months in anticiaption of making my very first CQ. I have also collected some rose fabrics too. I feel very excited about making this first Crazy Quilt now that I have found a CQ design I absolutely love. I have a slide show below that shows some close up pictures of this glorious quilt.

Also I also have to mention that in Patchwork Quilt Tsushin October 2000 Issue it has numerous page story about Anne of Green Gable and the quilts associated with Anne of PEI.. I love anything that is Anne of Green Gable. VBG They also show a wonderful Crazy Quilt which is on the cover of the Magazine. The one feature about this magazine is that they always high light a special place around the world which is always great to see. In Issue December 2005 they take you to Christmas in Denmark, Sweden and Findland. The picutures of the quilts, homes, crafts, and the people are absolutely wonderful.. I do not read Japanese but the pictures say a million words.

You will have such a wonderful time with this. You'll fall madly in love with CQ, and want to do it forever. =) Get a huge variety of threads, not just colors, but actual thread types.
